Revitalizing Your Web Presence

So your website isn't cuttin' it anymore. Maybe it's not responsive, maybe it simply looks outdated, or perhaps you're preparing to promote a new service or product. Whatever it may be, you've decided it's time to give your site some love. That's where we come in!

At Campfire & Co., we love the challenge of redesigning a website. More than just design, we enjoy thinking critically through the entire process so the final result is more than beautiful but also strategic and meaningful to you and your clients. For us, the process looks a little like this:

1. Research and Planning

Research! Research! Research! For us, this involves an in-depth discovery session to explore our client's goals for their website, target audience groups, desired functionality, and what success in this project to them. More hits? More inquiries? Success means something a little different to everyone so it's important to customize our focus each time. During this phase, we also take a detailed look at your existing site to figure out what's working and what's not. By the end of this step we're already well on our way to creating a plan for an awesome new website, making for some pretty happy clients!

2. Site Mapping

The next step is to put our ideas onto paper (or the wall) and confirm our plan. After thinking critically about our clients' goals, we collaboratively explore an updated site map. We carefully consider user experience, branded touch points, and strategic calls to action. This step has a big impact on the size and structure of the website, the amount of content we will need to create, and exactly where each bit of content will end up on the final website.

3. Wireframing and Design

Once we confirm how many pages and what type of content we need, we start thinking about visuals. We find this part particularly fun because we love playing with shapes and colors, but it's important to keep the level of specificity low until the everyone is on board with a specific direction. The complexity of our wireframes also depends on the overall complexity of the project. It's important to make important design decisions early on so we can make sure to save valuable development time later down the road.

4. Development

This is where it all comes to life! The development process differs vastly depending on what platform we're using. At Campfire & Co., we prefer to use Squarespace, Wordpress, or Shopify. Squarespace sites require less development, where as Wordpress requires more. Read more on determining the right platform on a previous post here. Having a solid site map and wireframes should spell out exactly what we are developing, but we always allow some room for impromptu design solutions during this phase as well.

5. Launch

Launching a site can be a bit tedious (on our end), but it's one of the most exciting steps in the process! Before we launch, or right after, we will spend some time training you or one of your team members to update and maintain your new site. We will also share any SEO metrics available based on your platform and suggest you take a look at these regularly. We'll make sure you have the tools to keep your site freshly updated and completely secure. Now you're ready to share your new site and engage with clients through an incredible online brand experience!
